Your Recruitment Journey at Alpine Energy
We’re here to support you every step of the way as you explore a career with Alpine Energy. Below, you’ll find what to expect from our recruitment process—designed to be transparent, people-focused, and aligned with our values of safety, sustainability, and service to our community.
What to Expect
1. Job Advertising and Application Process
You can apply for any of our current opportunities by clicking on the role that interests you. We advertise all vacancies through a range of platforms—including Seek, Trade Me, LinkedIn, and others—to help us reach great people like you across Aotearoa.
Roles are typically advertised for 2 to 3 weeks, after which we begin reviewing applications. Once we’ve completed our CV screening, shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an initial phone or Microsoft Teams video call. This first conversation helps us get to know you better and gives you a chance to ask questions about the role and Alpine Energy.
At Alpine, we believe in potential—so even if you don’t meet every single requirement listed in the ad, we still encourage you to apply.
If you have any questions or need adjustments to support your application, just let us know in your application or reach out to us directly.
Once your application is submitted, you’ll receive an email confirmation—and we’ll be in touch about the next steps.
Helpful Tip
Tell us about yourself! Feel free to include your CV, a cover letter, LinkedIn profile, or even a short video to help us get to know you better.
2. Interviews
If your application progresses, we’ll invite you to the next step: the interview. This is a two-way conversation—an opportunity for us to learn more about each other and see how your strengths align with life at Alpine.
Your first interview might be over the via Microsoft Teams, or in person at our Timaru office. Your Recruitment Partner will let you know what to expect.
3. Assessments
Between Interview 1 and Interview 2, you may be invited to complete a series of assessments. These typically include:
These tools help ensure a strong fit between you, the team, and the position—and we’ll always explain the purpose and process in advance.
Helpful Tip
These assessments aren’t about passing or failing—they're designed to give both you and us valuable insights to support a successful working relationship.
4. Interview 2
If you progress beyond the assessments, you’ll be invited to a second interview. This may include a deeper discussion about your experiences, scenarios relevant to the role, and how you approach challenges.
Depending on the role, we may also include:
We’ll let you know what’s involved via email so you can feel confident and prepared. This will come from our Assessment Provider, Talegent.
Helpful Tips
5. Background Check
If you're successful following the interview process, the final step includes a series of pre-employment checks:
We’ll walk you through what’s needed and keep you updated throughout.
Helpful Tip
It’s a good idea to give your referees a heads-up that we’ll be reaching out—and to share a bit about the role you’ve applied for.
6. Offer
Once everything’s complete, we’ll contact you with a verbal job offer, followed by your official employment documents to sign electronically via our Recruitment System. You will see that the offer will be subject to medical check, ACC and MOJ.
Helpful Tip
Have any questions about your offer? The People Solutions team is always happy to help.
7. Onboarding
You will get access to our onboarding portal, where you can complete your employee forms and learn more about Alpine Energy.
Get to know more about your team, where we are located if you are relocating from out of Timaru.
You'll also be welcomed into our structured induction programme, designed to give you the tools, knowledge, and support you need to thrive here.
Helpful Tip
If you can, consider taking a short break before your new role begins—it can help you start fresh and energised.
