The role
As an Overhead Line Engineer at Alpine you will play a key role within our Engineering team, with a specific focus on the design, maintenance, and improvement of overhead power lines to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient electricity supply for our region.
As an Overhead Line Engineer, you will be responsible for:
• Designing new and maintaining existing overhead power lines in accordance with AS/NZS standards and safety requirements
• Applying Safety in Design principles to deliver safe, practical, and cost‑effective overhead line solutions
• Undertaking site visits and inspections to confirm design assumptions and support construction and maintenance activities
What you’ll need
• BEng, BTech, NZDE (Level 6), or equivalent qualification relevant to the role
• Experience in a similar engineering role (typically 2–5 years)
• Knowledge of Supply Regulations, NZ Electrical Codes of Practice, and IEC Standards
Nice to haves
• Experience with design, construction, or maintenance of overhead electricity distribution networks
• Familiarity with asset data, drawings, and as‑built documentation
• CPEng
