Job Description

The role

Join us at Alpine Energy as a Trainee Network Connections & Distributed Generation Officer and help support safe, compliant network growth across South Canterbury. This role sits at the front end of our customer connection process, working with domestic, commercial, and distributed generation customers to support new and modified electrical connections. This role is perfect for a recent graduate looking to start their career in the distribution industry.

You will act as a key point of contact for customer inquiries, supporting the management of Installation Control Points (ICPs) and distributed generation connections. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help ensure connections are accurately processed, compliant with regulatory requirements, and delivered within required timeframes.

As a Trainee Network Connections & Distributed Generation Officer, you will:

  • Assist with the creation and modification of customer Installation Control Points (ICPs) in line with regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with internal teams, electricity retailers, metering providers, and field services
  • Support new load distributed generation connections (solar).
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to regulatory compliance and audit readiness
  • Provide clear and timely communication to customers and stakeholders

What you’ll need

  • A customer‑focused mindset with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to managing tasks and timeframes
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice to haves

  • A graduate qualification (BE, BSc, or BTech) or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Knowledge of the electricity sector or infrastructure‑based environments
  • Awareness of ICP processes, regulatory obligations, or distributed generation
