The role
In this role as a Safety Business Partner, you will join Alpine playing a key role in supporting people leaders to build strong, consistent, and effective health and safety practices across the business. This role sits at the intersection of strategic safety leadership and operational delivery. You will work closely with leaders and their teams, ensuring safety is embedded into day‑to‑day operations, planning, and decision‑making.
As part of Alpine’s centralised Safety team, you will focus on building trusted relationships across assigned business units, while also contributing to the ongoing development and delivery of our safety framework and roadmap.
As our Safety Business Partner, you will be responsible for:
- Partnering with people leaders to provide expert health and safety advice and guidance
- Coaching and mentoring leaders and teams to build capability, confidence, and ownership
- Supporting the embedding of Alpine’s health and safety management system and critical risk controls
- Leading or contributing to safety programmes, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
What you’ll need
- Experience working as a health and safety professional in a business partnering or advisory role
- Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk management, and safety systems
- Proven ability to influence behaviour and decision‑making through strong relationships
- Experience working in operational, infrastructure, or regulated environments
Nice to haves
- A tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety or a related discipline
- Membership of, or progression toward, the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management
- Experience using health and safety systems and data to provide insights and reporting
