Job Description

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Utilities Location Technician to join Alpine Energy. This role is critical to ensuring the safety of our field teams and the public by accurately locating underground cables and utilities and recording network assets using GPS technology.

As a Utilities Location Technician, you will:
- Provide industry best-practice underground cable and utility locating services.
- Locate and mark underground cables and ducts in roadways and private property.
- Undertake GPS recording of network assets and coordinate the location of other utilities.
- Carry out ground-penetrating surveys and maintain accurate records of utility network architecture.

What You’ll need

-  Experience in a similar role (Usually 3+ years) or relevant experience interpreting cable/utility plans.
- Ability to read and understand plans, survey sheets, and deliver accurate as-built drawings.

- Prior experience as a cable locator.

Nice to haves
- CAD or GIS experience.

- NCEA Level 3 or equivalent qualification.

- Strong practical skills and sound judgment in varied work situations.
